HTS is proud to sponsor the annual Funny Farm event held in central QLD. With very loose links to our core business, the world of skydiving has been a personal interest for some of our founders.
This years event combined skydiving with FMX, paramotoring, wakeboarding, jet boarding and light aircraft.

We live in an exciting era of shape-shifting technological innovation, providing both opportunities and challenges for businesses in all industries including construction.
In the aftermath of COVID-19, economic confidence may be gauged by how many apprentice and trainee vacancies are advertised. Australia was looking bleak, but signs of improvement are emerging. While the economy recovers, HTS continues to foster and develop from within the business. Internal development leaves room for future onboarding of new apprentices ready to meet the same challenges as Devin Thackrah did when he started as an apprentice.
As the technology of personal mobile devices has advanced, so have people’s obsession with these devices, however, the use of these devices on construction sites clearly presents an identifiable hazard. Contrastingly, mobile phones do offer other opportunities in the industry, including in engagement of clients and workers. So where do we draw the line? Is banning the use of them the answer?
The old saying build it, and they will come may be true, however, in reality, the critical path of a construction project is dotted with compliance obligations imposed by National and Local legislation, building regulations and codes. Navigated successfully, final certification of your project is achieved with minimal impact to the schedule. However, if compliance obligations are not anticipated and properly managed, non-compliance can derail your build and require extra time and additional budget to get it back on track.
Diversity is no longer an advantage in business. Companies who preach gender diversity on their capability statements are spruiking conformity, not innovation. While embedded attitudes and reluctance still hold the industry back from full-blown evolution, HTS quietly continue forth with the business at hand; That is, delivering quality services, with well-trained, committed and passionate people, regardless of gender. Trade Assistant, Megan McCarthy, is one such 'tradie' who has left the office environment behind for early morning starts and late finishes.
No one should get hurt at work. That is the premise on which HTS base their safety culture. We don't just strategise to minimise injuries; We work hard at ensuring that we get to 'zero harm' and stay there. We focus on the effectiveness of our work and have adapted our safety practices to include ongoing elements of measurement that improve the dynamic nature of our controls ("How do we know that it is working?").
